Discussion:
Image A Suse Machine With Ghost...partially Works, works only on the PC it was imaged from.

I'm setting up some servers for some schools. I use ghost to image from
a base suse install.
The base computer has: no gui, just SUSE10.1 with apache mysql, php and
SAMBA.

I can use ghost to image: disk to disk (as long as I use ext3 and ensure
the swap partition is the same size. Theres only 2 partitions: swap and
the rest mounted at /). When I put the destination disk back in the same
PC it works fine. ie I take out the original put the imaged hd in, and
it works fine.

BUT when I put the imaged HD in another PC it boots fine. It gets past
GRUB and then loads some files then:
--------------------------------------------------------------
loading ext3
resume device /dev/hda1 not found (ignoring)
Waiting for device /dev/hda2 to appear ................not found....
exiting to /bin/sh
$
--------------------------------------------------------------

Is there any way I can fix this?

The destination PC is essentially the same makeup. ie 1 IDE HD, 1 IDE
CD, 1 NIC
(Interesting that it doesn't come up with this error if I put it in the
same machine it was imaged from!)

ALSO:
I've been told its the HDD controller on the new machine. But this
process used to always work with red hat (of course I prefer SUSE.)
But on the boot up of the new image in Red Hat it just found the new hdd
controller. Other than that all I had to do is find the correct nic
driver (which was easily done).
SUSE seems to be more powerful and intuitive so I'm hoping there is an
answer

thanks
