Hi,
I have suse 8.0 in my system. i want to install suse 10.0 , therefore i find this site http://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/10.0/iso/ and download SUSE-10.0-CD-i386-GM-CD1.iso until CD5 and unzip each CD and then Burn it to 5CD ,CD1 to CD5.
Then boot system with first CD but system go to suse 8.0 enviroment that i have in my system and suse 10.0 installation page don't come and i can't install suse 10.0.
Why suse 10.0 installation page don't come?
Also i set the BIOS that system boot from the CD and the CD1 is ok because it shows his files in windows OS and the burn CD is ok because after burning the CD the (NERO software) tell me the burn is completed successfully.
Would you please tell me what's the problem with that?

Thanks for your answer,
Sibil

Hi Sibily,
1. If you are sure that you are booting from the first CD, then make sure that
you choose "Installation" when the screen comes. Otherwise it will boot from
harddisk.

2. If the screen above doesn't show, then you burned the cd wrong. The ISO
files must be burned right away. No need to unzip them first. If you unzip
them, it wont boot.

Hi
I was installed the suse 10.0 but i have a question from you:
when i had suse 8.0 in my system i have this directory: "/windows/D"
this directory is windows XP directory( i have both windows OS & linux OS in my system)
in suse 8.0 i can mount this directory and can see files in this directory but in
suse 10.0 instead of that directory i have this icon "/sda1" in Mycomputer in
suse 10.0 desktop when i right click on it and click on mount option after mount i see
"/windows/D" but nothing in "D" folder.
How can i mount "D" folder that can see what's in it?

Thanks for your answer,
Sibil

You can tell Suse to mount sda1 to /windows/D through /etc/fstab
Add a line in /etc/fstab:
/dev/sda1 /windows/D ntfs ro,users,gid=users,umask=0002,nls=utf8 0
0

Make sure directory /windows/D exists.

Hi,
I have this line in /etc/fstab:
/dev/sda1 /data1/ auto noauto,user 0 0
("/data1" is a directory in root partition)
At this case when i right click on "sda1" icon in mycomputer for mount option it's mount and i see /windows/D but nothing in "D" folder.
When i change that line in "fstab" to this line:
/dev/sda1 /windows/D ntfs ro,users,gid=users,umask=0002,nls=utf8 0
0
(both /windows/D or /data1/windows/D) and i right click to "sda1" for mount option i get this error:
mount point /data1/windows/D (or /windows/D) doesnot exist.
How can i solve that?

Thanks,

If it doesn't you can make it:
mkdir -p /data1/windows/D

Is your /dev/sda1 is ntfs? or fat32?
If it is fat32 you can change the option ntfs to vfat, so it will look like

Are you sure your windows partition is /dev/sda1?

mkdir -p /data1/windows/D
Then try to remount it.
Hi,
/dev/sda1 /data1/ auto noauto,user 0 0
("/data1" is a directory in root partition)
At this case when i right click on "sda1" icon in mycomputer for mount
option it's mount and i see /windows/D but nothing in "D" folder.
/dev/sda1 /windows/D ntfs ro,users,gid=users,umask=0002,nls=utf8 0
0
(both /windows/D or /data1/windows/D) and i right click to "sda1" for
mount point /data1/windows/D (or /windows/D) doesnot exist.
How can i solve that?
Thanks,
You can tell Suse to mount sda1 to /windows/D through /etc/fstab
/dev/sda1 /windows/D ntfs ro,users,gid=users,umask=0002,nls=utf8 0
0
Make sure directory /windows/D exists.

Hi Fajar,
My problem is being solved.
As you told me i do this command: fdisk -l /dev/sda
(the result of this command is save to fdisksda.txt file that attach to this email)
and see that windows partition is /sda5 therefore i do this change in fstab:
/dev/sda5 /data1/windows/D vfat noauto,user 0 0
and then i can see windows partition.

Thank you for your solution,
Sibil

Pls copy paste the result of this command:
fdisk -l /dev/sda (don't forget the -l )
fdisk -l /dev/hda (don't forget the -l )
df -h

How can i solve that?

If it is fat32 you can change the option ntfs to vfat, so it will look like
/dev/sda1 /data1/windows/D vfat ro,users,gid=users,umask=0002,nls=utf8 0 0
